Staff Function R&D, within Strategic Development, is searching for a Fluid Mechanical R&D Engineer.
The position is located in Älvkarleby. You will report to the Head of Infrastructure Laboratory Holger Ecke.

We develop cost-effective, safe & sustainable solutions to improve the infrastructure of Vattenfall assets including Hydro, Wind, Nuclear, SKB, Heat and Distribution. The recruitment of a Fluid Mechanical R&D Engineer will further strengthen the team Fluid Mechanics. The latter supports several BA/BU and in particular BA Wind in mathematical modeling of physical phenomenon involving fluid flow and solving it numerically using computational processes.

Your responsibilities and tasks as a Fluid Mechanical R&D Engineer
Analysis of fluid phenomena followed by mathematical modeling using CFD tools.
Evaluation of fluid structure designs to support decision making.
Execute fluid mechanical calculations in support to business units Offshore Wind and Hydro.
Contribute to design improvements.



Your qualifications as a Fluid Mechanical R&D Engineer
Relevant University degree within Engineering, e.g. MSc Civil Engineering, MSc Applied Physics or equivalent.
Work experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermodynamics with applications in utility assets.
Software skills in OpenFoam
Moderate knowledge of Ansys Fluent



Fluent in English, Swedish skills are advantageous
