Sandvik Mining and Construction (SMC) is looking for a Global Sourcing Manager to run a new category called Machined Components within the SMC Sourcing organization.As a Sourcing Manager your main goals are to manage the supplier base and to deliver best value in terms of Quality, Delivery Performance and Total Cost for the company.You will report to the Sourcing Director of Proprietary Items.Key performance areas You will be the global manager for the Machined Components Sourcing category within SMC.In this assignment you will ensure that spending with the external suppliers you are accountable for adds up to the best value for SMC business.Integral elements of this position include managing category suppliers, maintaining a global category project portfolio and ensuring that set targets for the sourcing category are achieved and results are implemented.This involves: Developing and implementing global category sourcing strategies in accordance with Sandvik policies and guidelines.Responsibility for evaluation, qualification, selection, contracts and management of category suppliers.Assuring that key internal and external stakeholder (Customers, SMC Production Units, Assembly Centers and SMC Logistics) interests are taken into consideration. Ensuring that the best available supplier base is used globally for the assigned category and make sure suppliers adhere to the Sandvik Supplier Code of Conduct.Ensuring that suppliers, irrespective of location, live up to the same high, stable quality expectations.As this is a new global category you will need to build the organization to ensure that technical category competences are at required level.Managing global cost budgeting and total cost control of category team.Ensuring category team participation in engineering, new product development and localization projects, as well as managing the category team s contribution to standardization and modularization initiatives.Make sure enough global capacity is available for SMC s current and future needs.Your profile In order to achieve expected results we believe the ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering or purchasing at Master or Bachelor level, together with a good understanding of manufacturing technologies, sourcing management and quality requirements.The successful candidate is pragmatic and open-minded with the ability to motivate people in a global network.It is essential to possess good interpersonal and communication skills and be fluent in English, both written and spoken.Experience in both light and heavy engineering with practical and technical know-how on machining is a demand.The role is international and requires a fair amount of travelling.The position is located in Finland (Tampere, Lahti or Turku) or Sweden (Sandviken or Svedala). tel.For further information regarding the recruitment process, please contact: HRdirect/Lisbeth Häggström, tel.Please, send your application by November 28, 2010.
