Head of Engineering

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering function at a solar energy company, with a focus on large-scale solar energy projects and battery energy storage systems.
About the Role
As Head of Engineering, you will have overall responsibility for engineering and technical solutions across renewable energy projects. This is a leadership role combining strategic responsibility with hands-on engineering work, where you will actively contribute to project design while also developing engineering standards, tools, and ways of working.
You will work closely with senior management, project teams, procurement, and external stakeholders to ensure technically sound, cost-efficient, and compliant solutions tailored for the Nordic market.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead and take overall responsibility for engineering and design of solar PV parks and BESS projects
Act as a hands-on, billable technical expert, contributing directly to project engineering and design
Develop and continuously improve engineering standards, tools, and processes
Drive technical strategy and innovation adapted to the Nordic renewable energy market
Ensure compliance with Swedish regulations, grid requirements, and industry standards
Support and develop the technical competence of engineers and designers within the team
Initiate and lead technical improvement initiatives and innovation projects
Support the procurement function regarding technical evaluations, supplier selection, and contracts
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and grid owners

Who You Are
We are looking for a senior engineering leader with a strong technical background and a practical, solution-oriented mindset. You are comfortable combining strategic decision-making with hands-on technical work and enjoy leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
We Believe You Have
A university degree in a relevant engineering discipline
At least 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and design, preferably within solar PV, BESS, or energy infrastructure
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical interfaces, and multidisciplinary engineering
Proven leadership experience within engineering or technical organizations
Experience from field work and a broad, practical technical understanding
Financial and commercial understanding is considered a strong merit
