The role
Zwapgrid are looking for a Head of Engineering who will be responsible for leading the engineering team to solve challenging tasks and deliver scalable solutions. The company's mission is to become the foremost platform of sending and receiving data.

As our Head of Engineering you will lead our work in maintaining and developing our technical architecture, with the aim of constantly improving our users’ experience and our core platform stability. You will keep up with new technologies and work with our full stack developers to implement new features. You will aim to constantly improve the efficiency of our tech stack and will be responsible for procuring the competence needed to meet the future technical development of the sites.

A deep awareness of the regulatory environment (e.g. GDPR) and issues relating to data security is required. You will be ultimately responsible for ensuring uptime and ensuring that our server environment is appropriate for our needs. You will use your knowledge of data security to help our operations manager ensure the security and effectiveness of our systems.

Who you are

- You have advanced knowledge of coding, including .net, C#,
- You have a strong knowledge of system infrastructure and cloud hosting.
- You will be familiar with the main regulatory issues affecting the technical operation of websites in the EU, for instance relating to GDPR and security.
- You enjoy working as part of a team, and want to make meaningful and lasting connections with others. You will be able to inspire confidence in others.
- You are a clear communicator in writing and in speech, and are comfortable briefing developers and communicating with non-technical members of the team.
- Articulate and share the company's vision and mission to its clients, potential investors, developers, and other stakeholders in the market
- You will take pride in building culture and processes, multiplying the success of your team's work and growth. You will establish a strong culture of engineering excellence and pride.
- You will conduct resource planning, identify needed skills and resources.
- You will constantly reassess the ways of working for the team, in conjunction with other key Engineering stakeholders.




Requirements

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- At least 5+ years of software development experience.
- Experience working as a tech lead and/or CTO.
- Must possess an entrepreneurial mindset and the confidence to build up and lead a high-performance engineering team.
- Must be willing to get involved with non-trivial business domains and collaborate with professionals from a variety of fields such as sales and operations.
- Excellent team management, product management, organizational, and presentation skills.
- You have experience working and managing teams across cultures.
- You bring the strong technical background needed to establish a relation of trust and respect with your team.
- You are attentive and have the data-driven approach to engineering needed to build and ship a complex and demanding product.
- You have a strong sense of ownership and pride when it comes to product quality, performance, fit-to-market.
- You are opiniated and well-versed in Java, CI/CD, Agile and Scrum development practices, modern dev infrastructure (Git, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Jira, etc.) and cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure, etc.)
- You can contribute to and align with the company’s business strategy and have the enthusiasm needed to rally the teams behind it.
- You love to learn new technologies and keep architects on their toes.
