About the job
In this role as Head of IT and CIO for SMF, you take part in the development of our strategic IT road map supporting the digital shift and play a key role in modernizing and globalizing our business IT processes and applications and integrating newly acquired companies to Sandvik IT infrastructure. You work with both in-house resources across SMF divisions and other Sandvik businesses as well as establish strategic external alliances to ensure capacity and balance the business demands. You secure stable and compliant IT operations and proactively provide technical guidance and strategic advice. At the sametime, you connect business Drivers, external trends, current IT pain points and IT risks to drive concrete actions towards how our technology assets (applications, integrations, servers and networks) needs to adopt and change.
As this is a newly created organization, you take part in developing the ways of working with IT within SMF and you have a great opportunity to shape your own role. You collaborate closely in the team, supporting and engaging in each other's topics to succeed with the mission together. We act in an ever-changing environment with new technologies emerging every day. To stay ahead, you actively monitor advancements and trends, and you identify innovative and efficient solutions that generate a competitive advantage for us. You aim for a truly global IT & Digital Transformation organization.
You’re also important connection towards the Sandvik Group IT community, and you lead the SMF IT functional network – bringing business unit/division IT representatives across three divisions together to share information and to accommodate common aligned IT activities. To ensure alignment with the Sandvik Group’s common IT strategy and roadmap, you represent SMF in key councils and forums.
You report to the President of Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions and location for this role is preferably Stockholm, Sweden, but other locations can also be considered for the right candidate. Global travel is a natural part of the job.
Your character
We’re looking for someone with an academic background within the domain of IT and digital transformation and more importantly – an extensive working career within this field. You’re truly interested in emerging technologies and your previous career includes similar roles in a global setting, preferably in a digital/software environment, combined with knowledge from the manufacturing industry. You’re experienced in driving transformation and change – naturally within IT. A master’s in Information Technology, Computer Science or another technology field or Business Administration with a major in IT is required, and as we’re present worldwide, you have both cultural awareness and excellent communication skills in English.

Your personality truly makes the difference! As a person, you’re self-motivated, organized and resilient, and you make sure to see things through to the end to accomplish successful results. You mix these characteristics with being a transparent team player – someone who builds trust, communicates clearly, share insights and inspires people. You’re innovative and highly tech-driven, and you challenge us to make smart, timely decisions and look at things from different perspectives. You’re curious and humble enough to ask questions to gain a wider comprehension for the complexity and technical details of our operations. You also present detailed technical information in ways that everyone can grasp. Quite simply, you speak IT and Digital Transformation from a business point of view!
