Head of Research

Do you want to be in the driving seat of moving the boundaries of X-ray source performance by leading Excillum’s highly talented research team?

About the jobOur research department is responsible for generating the fundamental knowledge and technology that will continuously improve our X-ray sources over years to come. The research area is broad and spans from X-ray science to fluid dynamics and thermal engineering. The team today consists of seven highly skilled and self-driven scientists. You will be the first dedicated head of this team as they currently report directly to the CEO.

You will oversee planning and prioritization or research projects and see to that effective routines and project models are followed so that projects are executed effectively and goal oriented. It is also you who will make sure that results are documented, communicated and transferred to the Engineering department so that they can turn them into new products or improvements to current products. You will thereby work closely with our Head of Engineering and the Engineering team. The collaboration is tight as many Research projects include Engineering staff and vice versa.

You may also work with outsourcing certain research tasks if this is a more effective path to the results we need, and head our involvement in publicly funded research projects.

You will report directly to our CEO and take part in the management team.

Qualifications to apply for this position- A PhD in Applied Physics or similar field
- Excellent understanding (or at least the ability to obtain this) of the physics of an X-ray source and its various components and applications.
- Proven project management skills
- Proven people management skills
- Great collaboration and communication skills
- Experience of near-product research
