We are hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist with laboratory experience to lead our HSE-team at Hitachi Energy Research, Västerås, Sweden. In this role you will work as a leader/coordinator driving our HSE and sustainability work. You will also be a Local Sustainability Officer working with many aspects related to sustainability in our operations, as well as supporting with laboratory work in research projects carried out at our centre.

Your responsibilities
Lead and drive the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) work in our research center in Västerås to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environmental aspects.
Coach, support and provide advice to managers and researchers on Health, Safety and Sustainability matters and related to legal compliance
Implement safety and sustainability objectives and targets including reporting in the organization and to various authorities on our environmental footprint and actions
Support the effective implementation of the Hitachi Energy HSE and Sustainability Management System to support our ISO certification
Take a lead in dealing with reported HSE risks and incidents, work with root causes and support and follow up corrective actions
Engage in network for environmental work in the Swedish part of Hitachi Energy as well as with colleagues in Hitachi Research Centers globally working with HSE
Carry out laboratory work in research projects carried out at our center as needed

Your background
We highly value your personality and your willingness to learn new things. You are a team player that understand and value the importance of working together to achieve great results
You have prior HSE and sustainability experience, preferably from a similar industry.
You have experience of laboratory work in e.g. electrical testing, chemistry or material science
It is an advantage if you hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, engineering or equivalent, but it is not a requirement
A basic knowledge of Health & Safety and Environment legislative requirements
You have a pro-active mindset to self-initiate actions and take decisions.
You have good communication and influencing skills to address and build trust within the organization
Fluency in English and Swedish is required, both written and spoken
