International Security Desk Officer

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Swedish Red Cross (SRC) sends staff to most of the world’s conflicts and natural disasters. SRC takes its Duty of Care to its staff, who often work in highly insecure contexts, very seriously. Reporting to the HR Director and working in close cooperation with the International Security Advisor, you will play a key role in further applying and developing SRC’s International Security Framework.

The position is based in the Human Resources Department but works most closely with the staff and management of the International Department.

Your role

Working in Swedish and English interchangeably, you will principally work on strengthening SRC’s international security risk management procedures and systems. In addition you will work on two larger projects concerning security training and travel security. You will support:

• information management and reporting
• ensuring SRC is accountable for security in its contractual relations
• the development of security training
• incident reporting and management
• critical incident management including supporting an annual cycle of training
• the revision of travel security systems
• the revision of country level security packages in some of the world’s most complex environments.

You are highly organised and able to work independently on a number of related projects simultaneously. You have the confidence to engage with a wide variety of interlocutors within SRC, with partners within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and with related organisations and authorities within Sweden. You have a commitment to delivering results with the detail right. Because you are highly motivated, you have a flexible approach to working hours and are willing to travel within Europe and possibly beyond.

Required experience and skills

• University education in a relevant discipline (preferably legal studies)
• 3-5 years’ full work experience
• Experience of working in both Swedish and English, ideally using both languages in a legal setting
• Experience of working outside Sweden and/or in an internationally-focused work environment
• Demonstrable experience of the adaptation and presentation of complex information, in writing, as part of databases, and graphically
• An eye for detail and consistency
• A demonstrable track record of delivering results in all phases of a project cycle
• Highly flexible
• Driving licence

Desirable experience and skills

• Previous experience with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, including as a volunteer
• Previous experience in the humanitarian sector
• Previous experience of working with risk management, security, or compliance
• Experience of moderate- and high-risk travel
