Job Summary This position within the SSG/IT Team will perform all aspects of technical support related to the day-to-day computing needs of The MathWorks office in Kista, Sweden and remote office in Espoo, Finland. This individual is expected to provide support via phone, e-mail and Intranet as well as perform problem determination face-to-face. This position will report to an IT Manager in the France. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities: * Diagnose and resolve computer and peripheral problems and requests from users in a timely manner including accurately recording such requests into the help system. * Install, configure and troubleshoot PC hardware and software * Install, configure and troubleshoot phones * Create and document local procedures, guidelines and best practices. * Record, track and maintain equipment inventory. * Provide training to users in supported desktop products. Secondary Responsibilities: * Provide first level support for networking and application issues. * Liaise with local service and support providers. * Support the optimization of the existing environment * Participate in regional and worldwide IT projects as required. Qualifications * University degree (or equivalent) in a computer related discipline and work experience within the Information Technology industry OR * 3+ years work experience in Information Technology, including 1 year front line / helpdesk technical support. In-depth knowledge of / focus on: * Desktop software including Microsoft Office products. * Troubleshooting complex issues related to operating systems, PC hardware and peripherals * Desktop Operating Systems including Windows XP / Vista * Customer focus and dedication to customer satisfaction * Self-starter; ability to work on his/her own, but also within a team framework A working knowledge of: * Backup Software and processes. * Networking (WAN & LAN) topology and protocols * PABX Setup & configuration * Remote Working / Mobile Computing * Unix / Linux
