By applying for the IT & Strategy Talent Programme you can become 1 of 40 talents working towards that goal. Each of the 40 positions in the programme is unique and has its own specific responsibilities and challenges. This is a two-year programme with a strong focus on your development. From the outset you’ll have your own development plan which will be tailored towards a role suitable for you and include building blocks with learning goals towards that target. The focus is very much on learning by doing, and together with your manager you’ll select different assignments and rotations where you’ll participate in real projects, and contribute to fossil free living, at the same time as you get the experience you need to boost your development.
Your role as an Engineer at Energy Systems & Processes will be focused around the highly relevant topic of heating (and cooling) our societies - a key component of our energy landscape which is undergoing large transformations. Understand how electricity and district heating sectors are joint via themes such as heat pumps and overall energy flexibility, how heat production and a circular economy have great impact on one another and what the future of biomass might look like. Moreover, you will be introduced to themes and tasks spanning all of our business areas and strategic functions - a chance to be in the center of, and be a force for, the transformation of our energy landscape into a sustainable and circular world.
You will initially belong to the department Energy Systems & Processes which specifically addresses making heating and all large industry sectors carbon emission free. The department is part of Vattenfall R&D which is responsible for conducting corporate business driven technical development that creates value for Vattenfall and helps realizing our strategy. A valuable core component of the Vattenfall Group function Strategy. We work in agile teams close to the business of Vattenfall. The corporate R&D unit employs 120 people located mainly in three different offices in Sweden and Denmark.


Your role as an Engineer at Energy Systems & Processes
Your activities will be in the areas:
• Energy system assessments and optimization of heat balances in district heating production and distribution grids
• Project management
• Synthetization of complex topics and results into funding applications, decision material etc.
• Techno economical analyses - investment and business case calculations
• Strategic analyses of fuels for heat production


Who are you?
• Graduate, or up to two years’ work experience
• Strong academic background in engineering
• Passionate about wanting to create change

• Able to handle a steep learning curve
• Committed to climate-smarter living
• Able to travel regularly


As an Engineer in Energy Systems & Processes you recognize yourself in the following:
You hold a Master’s degree in Engineering Systems or similar, have strong analytical skills and a mindset and interest in addressing topics strategically. You have an understanding of what it takes to run projects, and have a strong will to structure and take responsibility for driving topics, be it small or large. You are engaged by the understanding and transformation of our energy landscape and you are eager to in detail understand the complexity of the heat business and how it relates to the rest of the energy market and a circular society. You are communicative and able to synthesise and explain complex topics, as well as self-driven and naturally reach out to find your way. You are comfortable in understanding and maintaining relationships with stakeholders internally and externally.


Location
You will be working in the R&D department of Energy Systems & Processes and the location for this position is preferably Stockholm or Älvkarleby.

Selection period starts in April, followed by online tests and interviews in April and May. The recruitment process will be finalized around the end of May/beginning of June. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the IT & Strategy Talent Programme will be September 1st 2022.
