The Project Support and Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source Eric in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an IT Support Specialist.

The main responsibilities of the Information Technology division is to maintain, improve, advise and lead the work on the IT platform to meet the need of the project both today and tomorrow. Mission of the team is to provide a stable and accessible IT platform, with the key drivers of being open, excellent and collaborative. The goal of operation is to make everyone able to get the tools they need and to provide high quality service and support.

As an IT Support Specialist you will provide technical assistance to other employees and collaborators to the project. You will answer questions or resolve computer problems for users either in person, via telephone or over a remote connection. Your responsibility is to provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software including printing, installation, word processing, mail and operating systems. You may also be required to teach people how to use the computers/software commonly used in the organisation, and to be asked sometimes to write instruction booklets.

Job description 
Your main area of responsibilities as a IT support specialist will be to:


• Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
• Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
• Configure and deploy new equipment, handle repairs, orders and other logistics.
• Dispatch incoming cases to the support team and also escalate when necessary.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role we beleive that you have:


• At least 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent education
• In-depth experience with Windows/MacOS as an administrator or power user is a necessity.
• Experience of working in an international environment is beneficial.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Extra merits:


• University degree in Computer Science.
• Relevant Certifications. e.g. as an MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) would be a significant advantage.
• Experience as a support technician/help-desk operator.
• Experience with OSX & UNIX-based environments.
• Software development knowledge.

Duration & Location
The position is a permanent position with 6 months probation period.
