Junior AI engineer - traffic interaction modelling, temporary position

About the position
In this temporary employment, you will have a chance to get to know Viscando, and to apply your academic knowledge and past experience within AI in a real-life project within a Vinnova-funded research project. In case of positive outcomes from the project, there is an ambition to convert this temporary position into a permanent one.
About the company
Viscando helps making both cities and connected and autonomous vehicles safer through providing data, insights and models of behaviour, interactions and conflicts in multimodal traffic. The data is collected using our smart, GDPR-compliant, 3D&AI infrastructure sensor and analysed using our proprietary know-how and tools. Our main customers are cities and municipalities who want to understand the traffic accident risks, and the effect of infrastructure and policy changes on traffic safety and efficiency. We are also offering traffic scenarios and behaviour models to developers of autonomous and connected vehicles, enabling scenario-based development and verification.
Our office is located in Lindholmen in Gothenburg, in the heart of the largest automotive hub in Northern Europe. Currently we are 9 full-time employees who share the passion of collaboration, dedication and passion for improving traffic safety for everyone, through innovative technical solutions.
Work tasks
In the junior AI engineer role, you will be a part of development team at Viscando, working in an agile and fast-learning environment lead by Viscando’s CTO. You are expected to take initiative, create better understanding for the tasks and improving your skills during your work, while keeping the customer needs and development priorities in mind. While the development of AI-based traffic interaction model will be your main task initially, you will be involved in other tasks within data processing, analysis and machine learning.
Education and experience
Technical skills
Master degree in data science, applied mathematics or similar, with documented courses and course projects within deep learning, modelling and python programming
Confident user of python programming language
Experience in agent-based modelling, preferably using deep learning (e.g. imitation or reinforcement learning) is highly meritous
Strong mathematical skills, preferably proven through relevant courses or/and previous work assignment
