Junior expert - support quality assurance of ECDC’s scientific work

Job description
We are now looking for a new team member to ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) in Stockholm. You will work as a Junior Scientific Expert and support the SMS Unit (Scientific Methods and Standards Unit). This Unit leads the processes for strengthening the scientific excellence and the dissemination of knowledge within the organisation and to partners. This includes the quality assurance of ECDC’s scientific work and the organisation of the ESCAIDE conference. It also covers the definition of the standards for the Centre’s scientific processes and outputs and monitors performance against those standards


This is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible until the end on June.


ECDC has introduced a hybrid working model with a minimum presence in the office of 2 days/week. It is a requirement that you are based in Sweden or can relocate here immediately. No remote work (from another country/city) is possible for this position.

Responsibilities
 
The tasks focus on supporting the ECDC foresight and research coordination and engagement activities, such as;
Participatory forward-looking approaches, futures literacy and foresight capacity building activities;
Knowledge gaps and research needs assessments in support of future public health research action;
Mapping of ongoing EU research projects of relevance to the ECDC’s remit;
Engagement with external scientific experts


Qualifications
Education at university level within a scientific field relevant to ECDC’s remit (e.g., public health, biomedical sciences, future studies, health or research policy, systems sciences) and experience acquired in positions relevant to the job description
Good organisational and time management skills and proven experience in managing tasks and projects, including communication, documenting and reporting
Experience in collecting, critically evaluating, synthesising, summarising, and presenting (scientific) information (e.g., from peer-reviewed and grey literature, or through expert elicitation)
Very good English language skills
Very good MS office skills
Good communication skills (spoken and written)
Knowledge of the EU research environment would be an asset
Experience with strategic foresight would be an asset
