Job Description
Snowdrop is a powerful game engine that enables Ubisoft content creators to set their creative minds free. Fast and flexible, Snowdrop gives developers innovative tools designed from the ground up for creating the unknown. Snowdrop provides the perfect canvas for game developers to paint the games of the future.
Working in our physics team, your primary focus will be to bring the Snowdrop™ physics features on par with leading engines, make it work for huge game worlds and big number of objects. You will be part of a friendly team of four programmers who demonstrates technical transparency and likes to get things done.
As a Generalist programmer for physics, you will be improving and developing physics tools in the Snowdrop™ editor during game development to help tech artists and game programmers develop new physics simulation features and tools to control them. We develop our tools and features as part of the game development cycle so they will be field tested and proven straight away.
This is a permanent position based in Malmö Sweden, with the opportunity to work partially from home according to our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply in English (our company language), and we’ll check your application asap!
What you’ll do
Design and develop physics features for our games together with tech art and gameplay programmers
Improve support for physics tools in the Snowdrop editor
Support and optimize current physics systems
Participate in discussions and knowledge exchange with other Ubisoft studios and external partners (Havok)
Work with memory and performance optimizations
Document and share best practices for physics tools

What you’ll bring
We believe you have passion for physics simulations and motivation to work with one of the best game engines. We hope you enjoy knowledge sharing, open to feedback and like to challenge yourself and people around you. Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
High competence in C++/3D and game engine development
Strong motivation to work with physics in games and game tools
Professional experience from code optimization, simulations, and manual memory management

Ideally, we are looking for a senior candidate who are aware of how physics simulations are integrated in the game engine. It is beneficial if you have:
Good understanding of rigid body/Newtonian physics simulation in games
Experience with physics middleware’s
Focus on performance while developing features
Shipped AAA games
