Junior Physicist/Software Developer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Software is an essential weapon in the fight against cancer and at RaySearch we are passionate about innovating radiation therapy. Joining us as a junior physicist, you get the opportunity to use your motivation and educational background to make a vital difference. Gunnar started as a junior physicist in 2019 and shares his experience:

"At RaySearch I have applied and broadened my physics knowledge and programming skills working on problems that are both interesting and challenging. The working environment is great and I am surrounded by colleagues that are always helpful and inspiring."

About the role

As a junior physicist, you will work in an agile team with senior and junior physicists, application developers and test specialists, all dedicated to designing and evolving the cutting-edge treatment planning system RayStation.

You will get a solid introduction and as long as you have a great motivation to learn, your colleagues will gladly help you with all of your questions. You will get into the role gradually during the first year.

The physics group is a part of the RaySearch development department and is responsible for the physics algorithms and functionality for photon, electron, proton, helium and carbon ion treatments. You will participate in all steps of the development process, including analysis, software design, implementation and testing. You will implement physics algorithms in C++ and the application layers in C#/.NET. Over time you will also collaborate with physicists, engineers and medical doctors at our customer clinics and partner companies.

Your profile

You have good analytical skills and a creative mindset. When working on a problem, you formulate the right questions, identify what is important and work in a goal-oriented way towards a solution. You like working in teams, take responsibility and contribute to a positive atmosphere. You take pride in delivering high-quality results with efficiency.

• MSc in engineering physics or similar, with results and selected courses demonstrating a deep physics knowledge
• Interest in programming and basic programming skills
• Fluency in English

It is an advantage, but not required, if you have knowledge in Swedish, 1-3 years of academic or industry experience (with focus on solving physics modeling problems or software development, particularly in C++ and or/C# ) and if you have an understanding of ionizing radiation.
