Upstream Scientist
Consultant Assignment as Scientist in Upstream Process Development at Sobi



We are looking for candidates for a 6 months consultant assignment with start in January. During this assignment you will have a position as Upstream Scientist in the Expression and Upstream Development section at Sobi, Swedish Orphan Biovitrum, in Solna.

Sobi is a leading integrated biopharmaceutical company dedicated to bringing innovative therapies and services to improve the lives of rare disease patients and their families.



Expression and Upstream Development is a section responsible for

• Processability
• Expression systems and cell banks
• Upstream drug substance process development
• Midstream drug substance process development.


The right candidate

• Shares the deep interest in cultivation processes in bioreactors (0.5-15 L scale) as the rest of the team

Main Responsibilities/tasks

• Maintain and develop Prokaryotic and Mammalian cell culture in shake flasks to bioreactors
• Documentation in electronic lab book and protocols
• Contribute to planning, discussions and evaluation of results as a team member in process development projects


Qualifications and Experience:

• B.Sc or M.Sc in Biotechnology or related area, with a preferred industrial experience.
• Practical experience of process development in reactor scale.
• Fluent in both oral and written English. Swedish fluency is a merit.
• Curious and a flexible mindset with good communication skills
