Job offer for labourers/slaughtermen for lamb slaughter season autumn 2010
KS Slaughterhouse and Meat cutting plant is seeking labourers/slaughtermen the coming autumn. We are seeking persons which are willing to work hard and long hours. Experience is recommended but not all necessary. Each year there have been bonuses paid depending on speed and professionalism, last year this was 500 Euro total for a two months period.
Overtime is paid after regular hours with a compensation of 80% over regular hours. Employee might be requested to expand the period of contract for ca. 6 weeks ( till mid December ca ) but this is always mutual agreement between management and
employee. Salaries can through overtime be almost doubled.

Or: Coffee breaks are included in the regular hours and paid for like they have been worked. Normally is the latter coffee break not taken and the work is therefore completed 15 minutes earlier than informed here above.
Benefits are as follows: Free accommodation, normally two persons pr. room. Free meals are provided at plant during working hours. At other hours facilities are available to employees at accommodation. Bed linen and laundry is provided free of charge, and minimum facilities, cooker, fridge, cutlery and china etc for employees to provide for them selves during time off. Clothing and mandatory safety equipment is provided free of charge. Half the travelling expenses from airport (Direct link to Keflavik airport Iceland and further by bus to Saudarkrokur the local town) is paid for by employer upon a satisfactory completion of contract, on the conditions that employee is on plane formerly agreed upon so he/she can be picked up by bus at airport in Iceland.
Other conditions: Employee must be prepared to work overtime when requested. Last years there has been lot of overtime but depending on individuals interest for some more and others less. Management tries to distribute workload as evenly as possible between staff. Iceland adheres to EEC labour legislation regarding working hours. Attendance each day is required unless there is reasonable excuse for absence satisfactory to management. Performance on job must be satisfactory in the opinion of management having regard to each employee s skill and training. Any employee which does not adheres to a ban of using illegal drugs will be sacked without further notice, same goes for any other serious misconduct by employee, i.e. alcohol abuse is not tolerated. In plant there is a non smoking policy, but facilities are provided on factory ground for smokers.
Employees are liable to pay for damages they cause to premises provided by KS if reckless behaviour of the individual is the reason for the damages.
Useful information: Sick leave is two days for each month completed, if absence from work is found to be caused by sickness, management decision. Each employee pays 1,3% of gross salaries to labour union, and further 4% to pension fund. On top of regular salaries there is 8% payment into pension fund by employer and 10,17% holiday payment as well. Holyday payment will be refunded to employee when contract is completed. Pension fund can only be obtained at age.
Minimum salaries are approx 1000 Euro/month rate of the day, 1 Euro = 157 Ikr. Salaries can be higher depending on task, competence, training and skill of the individual. Only management can make such decision. Based on performance of individual. This can rise or get lower at time of work due to the economiy and currency fluctuations.
