Job Description
A Lead Data Engineer drives technical advancements that benefit the broader organization apart from the current team, leads complex and high-priority data projects, and creates opportunities to share knowledge, elevating the overall expertise of the team. A Lead Data Engineer should have good leadership skills and deep technical expertise, along with the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture. They play a key role within the program to implement the unit's data strategy and ensuring the delivery of impactful, scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable data architectures and ETL processes, ensuring best practices.
Participate in the business requirement gathering and priorities as well as with providing with level complexity and time estimations.
Work with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and stakeholders to define scope, prioritize tasks, and resolve technical issues.
Mentor Data Engineers, providing guidance on best practices and technical growth, while creating development plans for the team.
Use business acumen to execute ad-hoc queries, support product scope, and ensure technical solutions meet business goals.
Engage actively through cross-functional collaboration, secure business delivery, and foster a culture of innovation and teamwork, aligned with company values.
Support in interview process to evaluate fellow Data engineers
Qualifications
Applicable working experience or Degree in any technical field in BSc, BE or a related field.
Typically 7+ years in data engineering with proven project leadership.
Good understanding of H&M or equivalent industry operations.
Strong skills in data engineering, Python or Java, and production-grade software development.
Familiarity with Agile practices.
Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
Ability to drive improvements in data engineering and foster a collaborative environment.
