Arbetsbeskrivning

We create smart innovations to meet the mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. We design and manufacture a complete range of transportation systems, from high-speed trains to electric buses and diver less trains, as well as infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions. Joining us means joining a truly global community of more than 75 000 people dedicated to solving real-world mobility challenges and achieving international projects with sustainable local impact.

Join us as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer(m/f) and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Västerås, Sweden.

Purpose of the Job
Optimises manufacturability, ergonomics and productivity by leading Design for Manufacturing activities and driving product and process improvements throughout industrialisation. Captures Operations needs and communicate them to Engineering and the project core team.
Plans the activities of and leads the Operations team during building of the first products (irrespective of series production site, i.e. including transfer of production management when required). (S)he ensures effective coordination of technical changes, manufacturing process validation and series production preparations on time with optimised and accurate technical information.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead and(/or) perform industrialisation activities from early project phase until series production approval (through prototyping and pre-series).
Ensure that the products and production lines are ready for smooth series production as per standard hours. This includes accurate and on-time delivery of manufacturing layout, technical documentation, work package allocation and line balancing, work instructions, tooling and fixtures etc. Plan industrialisation in Doc#16 and coordinate the pre-series team during the first builds. Effectively manage technical changes and configuration management throughout industrialisation. Drive process improvements based on feedback from operators and series production.
• Drive the Design for Manufacturing work together with Engineering to optimise manufacturability of products, ergonomics and productivity, as well as promote standardisation where possible. Facilitate workshops, utilise previous lessons learnt etc. Be the voice of Operations when participating in design reviews.
• Deploy tools such as P-FMEA (process failure mode of effect analysis) analysis, ergonomics analysis, 3D build sequences, to detect and prevent risks at an early stage.
• Represent Operations in the project Core Team. Provide Operations specific input to enable effective cross-functional planning for successful industrialisation and project delivery. Monitor Methods budget and hours spent during pre-series.
• Lead Operations functional gate process in accordance with the project gate process and Operations local requirements
• Integrate colleagues from series production site throughout industrialisation from the Design for Manufacturing phase. Ensure that the industrialisation plan is adapted based on series production site requirements and its local characteristics. Set up and execute the Transfer of Production (ToP) plan accordingly.
• May at times also lead stand-alone ToP or site development projects not connected to industrialisation or new product launch.
• The proportions of a Lead ME (Manufacturing Engineering) time between the above tasks will vary over time depending on project phase and also the site’s overall industrialisation workload (number of projects and their size). Hence, a Lead ME may at times lead an industrialisation/ToP effort as project core team member and at other times be part of a team working on a larger project. In case of a temporary dip in industrialisation/ToP workload, the Lead ME will rotate into supporting series production.

Qualifications
Key requirements:
• Bsc of Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or similar or relevant experience in the field as manufacturing engineer. Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes, work preparation, production and line balancing. Supply Chain understanding.
• Industrialisation (design for manufacturing – prototyping – preseries) and fixtures/tooling. Understanding of interfacing functions during industrialisation.
• P-FMEA and ergonomics analysis.
• Knowledge of the engineering design process and engineering change management.
