Lead Simulation Engineer, Fluid System Analysis

We are now looking for a new colleague in the system simulation team for Volvo Powertrain Engineering. We are excited by the Volvo group fossil free ambition, that requires us all to work together to further improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This includes further improvement to the ICE engine, adaption and optimization for new truck and powertrain concepts for alternative fuels like green H2 and HVO.


Work description
As an R&D Engineer in the area of Engine simulations, you will be involved in the design and evaluation of new concepts and technologies. The GT-SUITE simulation environment will be your main tool for 1D simulations of lubrication and coolant systems. You will review simulation results, recommend improvements, design solutions, perform concept studies and present your conclusions with impact to our internal customers. You will work in an inclusive team environment in a collaborative way to create the best system solution with your engineering colleagues.

Skills
Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education, including the theory of fluid dynamics
Experience from working in product development teams for automotive engineering
Experience from working with simulation in our main tool GT-SUITE or similar

About the simulation team
The group System Analysis & Simulation consists of ~12 simulation engineers within 3 different areas: 3D CFD, 1D flow system and Virtual test rig simulations. The overall mission for our simulations is to minimize fuel consumption (CO2) and emissions and improve features and quality for our customers.
