Linux VDI system admin within High-Performance Computing   
Scania is one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, and engines. An important and rapidly growing part of the product development process is HPC and technical calculation. To support this business, Scania IT provides an HPC computational environment consisting of thousands of CPU cores to Scania's product development departments. This is used to perform the advanced calculations and computer simulations required for Scania to remain at the forefront of technology development in heavy vehicles. We are looking for a new Linux Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technician to work in the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC) Scania has a Linux VDI environment deployed along with more traditional Linux client computers that integrate towards the compute clusters. The solution supports 200+ users. 

 

Your main responsibilities as Linux VDI System admin  


• Support, maintain and develop Linux VDI environment used by Scania’s simulation teams. 
• Support, maintain and develop Linux client environment used by Scania´s simulation teams.  
• Assist with solutions to our customers, simulation teams, and product development teams. 
•  Examples of work tasks: Bugfixes, patching, user support, system development, automation work, scripting in bash & python, error diagnosis, and correction.  

 

Your qualifications as Linux VDI system admin  

The right candidate has a relevant academic degree within IT or equivalent work experience. You have good knowledge and understanding of the Linux operating system and scripting in bash and python. Good Swedish and fluent English are required for this role.  

As a person you enjoy working in a team but also independently when it is required, you dare to take decisions and have a good sense of service. it is important that you have good collaborations and communications skills as you will be dealing with many stakeholders. You have the drive to deliver, simplify and improve your work.
