This is an exciting opportunity that combines practical technical involvement with scouting for new technology on a high level. If you possess a holistic mindset and enjoy collaborating to create the best product, this could be the role for you!

Your team
With our Surface Division Drilling and Exploration Products, we have a market-leading position globally and are investing heavily in technology and product development to stay competitive and provide our customers with world-leading, sustainable, and safe products.
The Surface division R&D organization is growing fast and the technology is shifting. We need to make sure that we have a healthy and sustainable organization that supports Epiroc’s exciting journey to accelerate the transformation of our industry.
This role is a part of a new team added to ensure our transition towards energy efficiency, CO2 reduction and zero-emission products.

Your mission
As a System Architect, you will focus on optimizing the overall characteristics of the Surface rig platforms, specializing in either rig power systems or control systems. Within your designated area, you will be responsible for defining and upholding main functions, interfaces, distribution and overview of IP-landscape, ensuring alignment with the overarching roadmap. You will be an important liaison between practical implementation and the academic world, suppliers and competitors to find cutting-edge solutions in architecture. Your role also involves striving for the strategic creation and maintenance of modularity within sub-systems.
Providing solid support to engineers is a crucial aspect of your responsibilities, guiding them in the implementation of architecture. As the natural starting point for high-level inquiries in your relevant area, you will play an integral role in providing essential support for organizational planning and decision-making throughout the division.
Your duties extend to actively supporting the development of methodologies and design guidelines, as well as contributing to the development of roadmaps and strategies specifically tailored to your area of the platforms. Staying up to date with technological advancements and trends within your domain is expected.

Your profile
To thrive in this role, you need to have a strong technical background with practical knowledge and experience combined with an interest in connecting with the academic world. Academic achievements in system architecture or engineering are a plus.
You should have basic knowledge of electric, pneumatics, and/or hydraulic systems, coupled with extensive experience in system design within at least one of the areas. Familiarity with system modeling, design, and optimization methods is beneficial. It is good if you have an understanding of drill rigs, their applications, and performance.
Success in this role requires analytical thinking, proactive decision-making, and the ability to make rational decisions based on limited information. A holistic mindset, considering both customer and business perspectives, is crucial. If you enjoy working in an innovative and collaborative environment, this role is for you.
