The organization Global Operations & Quality consists of facilities in Sweden, China and the USA with global support functions such as Supply Chain, Quality, Environment and Product Compliance, Industrial Development and Business Control.
In the Vara plant about 240 employees manufacture marine and stationary diesel engines.


We are now looking for a Machining Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Vara Operations.


As a machining manufacturing engineer, you will systematically create working methods to prevent disruptions and maintain the operational reliability of the equipment in the operations.
You will also ensure our departments processes are align with Volvos Lean philosophy (Volvo Production System), contribute with qualified solutions based on your skills and previous experience.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
Continuously improve the machine park together with maintenance and production
Accomplish and analyze EWO’s (root cause analysis in machine errors)
Work proactively with actions against categorized machine faults
Daily support to production
Plan and prepare planned machining projects and updates
Support and coach in operator maintenance
Establish and maintain production methods, standards, work instructions, cutting tools and machine programming.
Lead and conduct Focused Improvement projects that supports safety, quality and productivity

What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; or higher
Several years of experience in machining operations
You have good knowledge of, and experience of working according to, the Lean principles
Fluent in Swedish, both verbal and written
Good knowledge of English, both verbal and written

As a machining engineer you will report to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager and be part of our team, with 12 colleagues, composed of mechanical and electrical technicians.
