Master thesis: Future small box warehouse setup

Design and propose an efficient way to handle small boxes in Tuve's internal material flow


Project Description


The Volvo Truck Plant in Gothenburg wants to change the way small box material are handled internally.
We are now in a very big transformation-phase with frequent new product releases which will have a huge impact on our internal Logistic Processes and flows. Number of part numbers will increase drastically, and this will affect the logistic way of handling and preparing the material.
To work proactively with Logistic Setup and Flows will be the key. The next step for us is to review how to handle small part in boxes internally as efficiently as possible.

Task


The task is to design and propose a future setup for Tuve's internal handling of small box material. Consider today's challenges as well as future expansions.
The thesis
must cover the following parameters:
Handle part number increase
Several different flows/customers
Handle full box flow and picking of single items
Flexible solution, possibility to scale up and down

Main location for the project group will be the assembly plant in Tuve Gothenburg.
To simplify communication with operators at least one group member must speak Swedish.
We require the thesis to be performed in a team of two students. Please state the name of your partner in the application.
