Master Thesis Mounting of submarine equipment

Master Thesis Mounting of submarine equipment

Arbetsbeskrivning

The available space in a submarine is highly limited and a large part of the equipment is customized to the specific application. Equipment is mounted in many different ways e.g. rigid to the hull, spring-damped, rubber damped etc. This leads to many different interfaces between equipment and structures, such as hull and platforms. All these elements have their own geometric properties and creates a complex web of requirements which need to be considered in order to be successful in submarine design.

Your role

Business Area Saab Kockums, unit Arrangement, would like to investigate possible design principles in order to simplify the mounting of equipment and enable shorter lead time in both the design phase and the construction phase. The mounting principles must fulfill a wide variety of requirements such as flexibility to cope with geometrical tolerances and modularity to be used with different equipment.

Overall description:

* Investigation of existing design principles (in-house and external).
* Find new or improved design principles, including concept generation.
* Statement of Requirements.
* Evaluation of design principles.

* Impact on lead times.
* Design robustness.
* Other requirements.

* Examine prerequisites for implementing new design principles.
* Recommendations for further work.

Your profile

This Master Thesis is suitable for two with interest in Marine and Mechanical Engineering. You are at the end of your Master of Science Mechanical Engineering and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.

What you will be a part of
