We are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer to fill a position at one of our important customers.

Required education background and professional experience:

Higher Technical or University engineering degree on mechanical engineering or other closely equivalent engineering degree

Knowledge of basic engineering in related disciplines (i.e. civil, electrical etc.)

Minimum 5 years of CAD mechanical design engineering experience

Minimum 3 years of working experience in CATIA design

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and its application to production drawings

Experience and knowledge of technical documentation and configuration management would be an advantage.

Designing mechanical apparatuses fulfilling specific needs for accelerator, detector vacuum environments would be an advantage.

Showing initiative: Demonstrate self-motivation is essential

Adaptability, good communication skills and the ability to identify issues and proactively work to solve them are necessary to perform well in this position.

Adaptability to the continuously updating and changing project needs and flexibility to manage work according to project needs.

Excellent oral and written English skills are prerequisites; knowledge of other European language(s) would be an advantage.

Scope of the assignment

The tasks shall include but not limited to:

- Design machine parts and components by means of CAD software
- Participate directly in the system assembly and installation operations: Activities and work can take place both in experimental underground areas and on surface assembly
- Generate and update conceptual, draft, detailed and manufacturing 2D drawings (and 3D models) in CATIA
- Generate, maintain and update 2D drawings in CATIA environment and interact/archive them in CHESS (the ESS in-house CAD management software tool)
- Generate 2D design from 3D input
- Generate 3D model from 2D input
- Generate 2D design from Requirements input
- Able to assess responsibility of the so-called "design package" (dedicated design projects to be completed in a specified amount of time)
- Take responsibility for the design, evolution and support of hardware designs in various key components of the machine components
- Document and present your work as appropriate
- Reviewer responsibility on Mechanical Engineering discipline, drawings and engineering packages
- Lead mechanical engineering review parts of CDRs or other relevant machine reviews of the ESS sub-projects
- 2D drawing review according to mechanical standardization norms and codes for but not limited to GPS tolerancing, ISO, etc.
- Generation and updates of conceptual, draft, detailed and manufacturing 2D drawings (and 3D models) in CATIA V6
- Generate, maintain and update 2D drawings in CATIA environment and interact/archive them in Document Management System
- Self-manage and self-prioritization skills are necessary
