Cochlear BAS (Bone Anchored Solutions) in Mölnlycke just outside of Gothenburg designs, develops and produces the bone-anchored Baha hearing implant currently used in three products: BP100, Intenso and Cordelle II.The company has grown rapidly in past years and will continue to do so through: Customer Motivation, Product Innovation, Operational Excellence, Organizational Leadership and Sustainable Value.BAS has approximately 180 employees with a wide range of competencies such as mechanical, technical, electro & bioengineering, design & product development, software development, audiology, clinical research, purchasing etc. THE POSITION As a Mechanical Engineer at Cochlear you are expected to develop and/or sustain existing products with emphasis on mechanical design of bone anchored hearing implants and facial reconstruction implants, surgical instruments and related components.To be supportive regarding technical issues both internally (other departments) and externally (sub suppliers).This includes but is not limited to: -Mechanical design of implants, surgical instruments and related components -Verification and testing of new and existing products -Establish documentation or mechanical designs -Develop and sustain technical file documentation -Lead smaller development, and other projects -Contribute with input to technical description for purchase -Contribute with input to production and marketing regarding new and existing products -Contribute with input to quality and regulatory affairs regarding new and existing products -Contribute with input to and cooperate with research and applications department regarding clinical studies and validations -Cooperate with technology development regarding development of new products QUALITIES AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND To be considered for this position you need a minimum of five years experience of mechanical design, preferably within medical devices and/or implants.This has provided you with good experience in developing products such as surgical products, implant devices and/or titanium implants.It has also given you a good knowledge base within common manufacturing methods for plastic components and metal materials.You also have a good command of CAD programs such as Pro Engineer and/or Inventor together with a good general computer literacy.You have a university degree from a technical field and are fluent in Swedish and English with good writing and presentation skills in both. As a person you have a strong drive and ability to take initiatives and solve problems independently.You can take full responsibility in own projects and possess excellent team-working skills.You also have an outgoing and networking personality with a great deal of ideas and creative thinking.
