Microbiologist in Advanced Wound Healing

On the behalf of ABIGO Medical we are seeking a Microbiologist, preferably with molecular biology expertise, to the Research and Development group in Advanced Wound Healing in Gothenburg, Sweden. The 11 month assignment will start in September with possible extension options.

ABIGO Medical is an expanding, 25-year-old family-owned pharmaceutical company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. They run their own R&D with manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Abigo Group has about 115 employees, with subsidiaries in Denmark, Norway and Finland. Their products are available in more than 60 countries. The production of their medical devices (Sorbact Green sårläkning®) takes place in their factory in Askersund, Sweden. You will work hands-on in the lab and the research and development of ABIGO’s products in the Medical Device/Advanced Wound Healing area. The focus will be on investigating the binding of microorganisms to surfaces and develop microbiological methods to evaluate the clearance of pathogens using ABIGO’s medical products.

• You will work with various microbiological techniques and methods in:

• Wound care

• Bacterial culture

• ATP measurements

• Fluorescence Microscopy

• Surface Microbiology methods

Qualifications:
We prefer that you have a PhD or licentiate in microbiology/molecular biology with a focus on biomaterials, pathogen-host, pathogen-material interactions and experience in R&D of products in wound care, medical devices, pharmaceutical development or microbiological method development.

The work is primarily laboratory, and you will plan, implement and report microbiological tests. The work involves both routine analyses and method development work, and it is important to have a strong drive, a creative and problem-solving mind-set and being able to see both the small and the big picture.
