Älmhult Municipality is in an expansive phase of development, and its population is growing like never before. We need employees who are committed to making an active contribution to the development of the municipality. Älmhult combines the advantages of a small town with a unique international atmosphere. It is easy to live here and most things are close by. Good communications make commuting easy.

The International School of Älmhult is a warm, friendly and welcoming school. We are truly international in many senses. There are 47 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. This year we can boast teachers coming from 34 different countries. We are an IB school, which means that we are progressive and work to develop the skills for the 21st century and prepare our students for an ever-changing world. The school has developed and grown over the past five years, so we now have around 500 students. In 2017, we moved into our new home: a modern and eco-friendly building, with a lot of open space and light.

WORK TASKS
As the MYP Deputy Head you will collaborate with the MYP coordinator as well as the whole school leadership team, to drive the school in the direction of our common Vision, Mission and school goals. Your work will include, building a strong team, and support the teachers and other important MYP staff in their collaboration. You will also help them use strategies to reflect on their own practices, in order to improve the students learning and learning environment. You will work together with the MYP team and the Student Welfare Team, to support the wellbeing of the students in our school. You will also work to strengthen our school community feeling and the partnership with the parents.

Together with the MYP coordinator, you will ensure the development of an up to date, stimulating and engaging curriculum and make sure that the IB standards and practices, comes to life. You will lead meetings, where you will to role model our Education Philosophy ex. life-long learning, Growth Mindset and the use of class-room strategies for ex Visible thinking routines and Cooperative learning structures.

The role as MYP Deputy Head will mainly include, but is not limited to the following tasks:

• Be part of the leadership team and collaborate foremost with the MYP coordinator
• Manage and lead the MYP team
• Work with the school schedules
• Recruit and on-board new teachers
• Bridge our program-continuum, together with our coordinators
• Drive the development of the school goals
• Conduct Trust Based Observations (TBO)
• Support teacher Pedagogic Development, and their collaborative learning
• Collaborate with the Student Welfare Team

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a caring and courageous leader, who takes actions to develop the school and the wider school community. A communicator, who builds networks and who is good at direct communication as well as digital communication. A strategic, analytic, and organized leader, who understands the systematical school quality work. We are looking for you who is a balanced person and works to ensure a good and healthy work environment for everyone.

We are looking for a leader who can be the catalyst for teacher agency and guide the team, using a coaching strategy. In your role you will need to embody the IB Learner Profile and be a good role model to students, teachers, parents and colleagues. You will be expected to have a clear communication in both written and spoken English. We wish that you are a risk-taker, who can incorporate elements of Play in meetings and find ways to support a playful culture.

The successful candidate needs to have:
• A strong understanding of, and belief in the IB Mission, Vision and Values.
• A degree in teaching
• IB and MYP experience
• IB leadership training
• Good command of English
• Strong leadership/management skills and experience

We also wish that the candidate has:
• Good command of Swedish
• Experience from working in many countries, in an international school setting
• Good knowledge of Swedish working laws and how teacher contracts work
• Experience in working with a budget
