Job Title: Assistant Store Manager
Reports To : Store Manager
Job Purpose :
To effectively manage and develop the store sales, stock and operational issues under the direction of the Store Manager in order to maximise sales, profit and minimise costs within pre-set targets.
Main Duties:
Team Management:
To coach, motivate and develop the store sales and operations teams to achieve personal and store objectives through:
-Effectively communicating and ensuring all managers and staff adhere to all Company policies and procedures
-Identifying the training and development needs of all managers and supervisors within the store
-Ensuring performance management issues are identified and addressed using the traffic light process
-Ensuring all reviews and appraisals are conducted on the sales and operations teams, within set timescales
-Leading the team forward, acting as an inspirational role model, striving for excellence at all times
-Motivating individuals to achieve more and identifying talent management
Personal Effectiveness:
Displays market knowledge and awareness of competitors, recognising viable business opportunities
Displays commitment; is motivated and conscientious
Demanding of others and encourages ownership

Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 2 year's management experience within a retail customer service environment, at a Department Manager level or above, including the management of a team of people.
Direct accountability for commercial tasks and increasing sales i.e. best sellers/merchandising etc.
Experience in stock loss prevention and security issues effecting retail.
Clear ability to communicate an awareness of commercial issues effecting high street business.
Responsibility for employee development including appraisals, coaching and motivation.
Previous use of commercial reports, with proven ability to analyse and interpret same to increase sales/turnover.
Flexible approach to hours including ability to work additional hours, statutory holidays, and Sunday when required.
Desirable Criteria:
Retail experience at management level within a high turnover operation.
Assistant Store Management experience within a fast moving fashion/clothing retailer.
Experience utilising Company procedures including disciplinary/grievance and absence management.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
Previous experience within a large square footage operation
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
