Poolia Väst Presentation The Structural analysis team is part of the Medicinal Chemistry Department, which has a size of about 120 persons. The department includes, besides Medicinal Chemists, also teams working with analytical techniques like NMR and LC-MS, high throughput purification and preparative chromatography. The team consists of a Team leader and three NMR scientists. All NMR at the site is centralised to the Structural Analysis group so even if the majority of the work is to support Medicinal Chemists ( 140) on several departments they also have a lot of collaborations with scientists in other departments. The lab is equipped with 8 NMR spectrometers (300-600 MHz), some with cryoprobe technology and one with LC-NMR-SPE. Arbetsuppgifter The new position as NMR scientist will mainly focus on supporting Medicinal Chemists and Drug Discovery projects. The daily work will primarily involve all aspects of the structure elucidation of small organic molecules, which includes training chemists to perform experiments and interpret spectra, advise chemists on how they can solve their problems and maintenance of user accounts, user interface and system controls. Since the group extends its applications and also interacts with and supports other departments the work can also include anything of the following applications depending on prior experience: - High throughput NMR i.e. flow-NMR on plates, - LC-NMR on metabolites and by-products, - Solid state NMR, for example on chromatographic supports, - Vibrational Circular Dichroism. Utbildning/erfarenhet The successful candidate will have at least a B.S. degree with NMR experience including basic instrument maintenance. Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to carry out independent research are required. Strong interest and motivation to learn new technologies and concepts is expected.
