Purpose of the job :
Leads the design and specification of a system or a sub-system part of it for new development or evolutions of existing ones
Leads the System as well as HW/SW design engineers in their system designer role
Contribute to Technology Center (TechFlo) programs related to Platform and for the entire lifecycle
Definition of the target architecture regarding functionality, performance, Safety, Cyber Security and RAM


Main responsibilities:
Member of the program engineering team as well as the platform management team
Applies process, methods and tools as referenced by the program plans
Supports the Platform Manager for identification of technical risks and definition of the development strategy
Under the control of the OCS950 Platform Manager, and in collaboration with the System/SW/HW Designers and coordination with other System Architects, he/she ensures quality, consistency, and on time delivery of the design and specification according to the development strategy
Leads and participates to the system design and specifications by application of System Engineering technics for:
System Specifications (Structured system specifications, development and integration of RAM, safety, sub-system, software, product, and V&V needs, system modelling and requirements writing, management, and traceability)
System Design (conceptual design thru critical thinking & holistic analysis, integration of end-users, experts, and CCN recommendations, phases concurrent engineering, ensures design for testability, RAM and safety, provides interface resolution and management)
Technical reviews & decisions
Application of verifications (document reviews, peer reviews)
Configuration Management
Interfaces with the System Application Architect for projects and tenders’ activities (evolutions & anomalies analysis, design & documentation support)
Prepares of program/project documents (e.g. training material, user manuals) he is in charge of
Participates to the material selection and procurement activities as required for the system delivery
Alerts and reports on any event/risks that may impact the system development
Participates to the program Change Control Board CCB
Keep himself informed of the evolution of technologies through technological watch
Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, process, workload estimations/metrics, ..)
Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.


Competencies & Skills

Master’s degree in computer/SW, Electronics or System Engineering
Ability to work transversally with Engineering teams
Technical decision management
Product & Domain knowledge
Expertise in System Engineering
Design for safety (as required) and RAM compliance
Design for Quality life cycle
English communication skills
5 years of experience in system architecture (project or program)
Alstom internal Training Advanced System Architect Program (ASAP for Architects)
Extensive experience in product development of safe Embedded Systems
Extensive experience in working according to Safety standards such as EN 50126/128/129 , IEC61508 or other similar related safety standards
Knowledge and experience in working with IEC 62443
Certification in System Architecture
