If you are up for the challenge of developing our future Operations and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you!
During 15 intense and exciting months, our Operations Graduate Program will give you a holistic view of our operational and logistic activities, including both the local and global perspective. You will be working with the technologies of tomorrow, building the products of the future – electric, connected, and automated. In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions.
You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several local and international job rotations and work on business-critical projects developing your competencies for tomorrow. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts and our remanufacturing operations. In addition, you will gather with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group. We offer the opportunity for you to be part of our digital transformation, applying new technologies to connect and automate our processes. Together we work with AI (Artificial Intelligence), data science, machine learning, circular systems, virtual manufacturing and more, to build our full electric or autonomous products.

Our organization:
Skövde plant is a major player in the Volvo industrial system, with 1000’s of machines for casting, machining, assembly, and supply chain. We have about 3800 people working in several shift forms, delivering to all brands within the Volvo Group.


This is us, your new team:
Within Skövde, the Maintenance organizations are more than 500 persons, and the development team is approx. 10 highly skilled engineers in different areas. The team is a diverse team with a mixture of backgrounds, educations, and gender.
Within the Development team, we are supporting different teams with expertise competence in machine behavior and analyses. You work together with people with knowledge from different areas of this team but will sometimes also need to get assistance from subject matter experts (IT (Information Technology) and others) in certain areas inside or outside Volvo.


How you will make an impact
In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming maintenance practices through the integration of Industry 4.0 and advanced AI techniques. The overarching objective is to significantly reduce unplanned downtime and enhance operational efficiency. This involves delving into the realm of cutting-edge AI tools and concepts, including predictive maintenance models. The goal is to not only explore but also pilot these innovations within the context of Industry 4.0.
Furthermore, an integral aspect of your role will be to investigate and test the integration of language models such as ChatGPT. This holds potential across various domains, from real-time anomaly reporting to facilitating data querying for operators. It could also assist field technicians in need of instant information or guidance, and even play a role in training scenarios, simulating maintenance situations for new technicians.
Your contributions will be instrumental in propelling us towards our ambitious goal of achieving zero unplanned stops.

Required knowledge/experience
BSc or higher with connection to machine, automation, or data engineering
In this truly global program, communication will be in English, hence you need to be fluent in both speaking and writing in English.
Valid work permit for the applied country if not a citizen.
