The Patent Department of Alfa Laval handles patent matters for the whole Alfa Laval Group and is organized in Corporate Development, a department that works close to the Group Management, with new market concepts, Mergers & Acquisitions and to facilitate growth.We are looking for a Patent Attorney for our office in Lund.We work closely together with the R&D Departments of Alfa Laval from the first embryo of an invention to the finished product.You will be responsible for selected technical areas and is expected to handle all patent matter independently within these areas.The work includes evaluation of inventions and drafting patent applications as well as prosecuting patent applications.Managing patent portfolios of in-house clients and counseling on patent law and practice, freedom-to-operate analysis and due-diligence is also major responsibilities together with competitor patent surveillance and litigation.Another very important area of work is to be in an ongoing dialogue with the R&D Departments in order to advice them early on in[the development stages on patent matters for each invention.The Patent Attorney we look for is an experienced Patent Attorney, preferably an European Patent Attorney, (EQE) having a suitable background with an academic degree within mechanical engineering, engineering physics or similar.Patent experience from both private practice and in-house industry Patent Department is an advantage.Travelling is natural part of the work and the work includes many international contacts.You should have good communication skills, and be able to use English as a working language fluently.Skills in further languages, e.g.German or French, is an advantage.As a person you should be well-organized with good coordination and multi-tasking skills.You should be accurate, flexible, committed and a team player.We look forward to your application, no later than July 4th 2010.
