Patent Paralegal

Husqvarna Group's IP function works closely with other global functions including Product Management & Development, Brand Management & Marketing, and Legal Affairs to: (i) procure high-quality and strategic IP rights for the Group; (ii) advise the Group's business units about the IP rights of others; and (iii) transform the Group's IP rights into greater profits. The IP function is managed by the Head of IP who manages an IP Department within the Technology Office under the Chief Technology Officer. The IP function also includes Husqvarna Group Legal Affairs, which provides advice and support to the IP Department on IP enforcement matters.


Position/Job Description: Husqvarna Group is seeking an experienced Patent Paralegal to join the IP Department and to be located in our site in Huskvarna or Jonsered (close to Gothenburg) in Sweden. As a Patent paralegal you will work independently and in cooperation with other staff of the IP department (and sometimes Legal Affairs) administrate intellectual assets of the Husqvarna Group. You will do this by supporting, updating, administering and coordinating the work between various marketing departments, design departments, product categories of the Group as well as external agents and IP authorities.

The following skills are required:
. Very good knowledge about national and international design and patent law such as formal requirements for filing applications, products and services classification, renewal requirements and name change/assignment recordals.
. Very good knowledge about different IP databases, knowledge about Patricia is an advantage, but not required. Good communications skills.
. Good knowledge in English.
. Structured and organized.
Main assignments will be:
. Administering and updating IP web pages and internal databases.
. Administering incoming and outgoing mail/communication including creating case files, docketing time limits and filing of documents in case files.
. Administering name changes and assignments of designs and patents, including contact with external agents and updating Patricia accordingly.
. Administering renewals including preparing, distributing renewal budget lists and information to external payment service provider.
. Administrative support to IP counselors and patent attorneys.
. Monitoring time limits.
. Heading and supporting internal IP projects in order to develop and improve IP working processes and services including improvements of IP management software Patricia.
. Invoice administration.
. IP portfolio administration including keeping the case and IP portfolio updated in Patricia.
. Preparing and filing design and patent applications.
. Preparing legal documents including Powers of Attorney etc.
. Supporting other functions of the Legal Affairs when required.
. Update information in Patricia and making monthly transfer lists to send to IP management provider for secure the rights in our database.
