Pharmacovigilance Scientist, Physician

Pharmacovigilance Scientist, Physician

Arbetsbeskrivning

Would you like to contribute to the safer use of medicines globally? We are looking for a physician to join our Signal Management team. You will help advance the science of pharmacovigilance by exploring the risks of medicines.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent foundation and centre for international service and scientific research. Our vision, as a global centre, is advancing medicines safety together. As the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, we seek to identify adverse effects of medicines based on real-world data – so-called safety signals. An important source of information is the individual case safety reports of suspected adverse drug reactions in the WHO global database, VigiBase, which we maintain and analyse. These reports have been submitted by national pharmacovigilance centres across the world which are members of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring.

What you will do
You will contribute with medical knowledge and clinical expertise to scientific development and analysis for pharmacovigilance. You will be working with the detection and clinical assessment of possible safety signals in an enthusiastic team of pharmacovigilance scientists, both physicians and pharmacists, within the WHO Collaborating Centre department. You will participate in scientific investigations with a clinical, pharmacological or methodological focus and have close contact with data scientists in your work. We also have an External Clinical Expert panel from around the world with whom we collaborate. You will also help in disseminating findings and research results and represent UMC externally. The Signal Management team works very closely with WHO in different projects and we also participate in subcommittees within WHO. You will regularly work with Education and Training staff within our WHO CC department, where you will bring your clinical knowledge and expertise to develop courses and presentations.
Who you are

- You are a physician with clinical experience
- You have a broad medical knowledge
- You have strong analytical capability and interest
- You enjoy working with others to solve problems
