"ABB Corporate Research is developing the foundations for the next
generation of ABB products.As an Corporate Research employee you will
work in international and dynamic teams of people with a wide range of
experience and competence.At the Scandinavian Center we are 220 highly
educated engineers with worldwide responsibility for research and
technology development in the ABB group for several areas within power and
automation.Västerås, at the shoreline of Lake Mälaren, is a 130'000
people city close to Stockholm.The town is known for family friendliness,
beautiful nature, culture, and its vast outdoor and indoor leisure time
opportunities.

The group of Electrical Machines and Intelligent Motion runs power
electronics, motion control, AC drives and electrical machines projects
for application from 1/2 kW e.g.in Robotics, kW's in LV drives.MW in
Wind generation and marine, to 60+MW in industrial generators and motors.
For this strategic research, a high degree of innovation, creativity and
application knowledge is required.

Your tasks: Research and design innovations in electro-magnetic and
related thermal and mechanical aspects of rotating electrical machines.We
improve existing products and develop, model and simulate new solutions
for the Business areas.Research in high torque density technologies, new
machine concepts, high voltage machines, high efficiency motors, variable
speed MW motors, wind generators, loss calculation accuracy, cooling flow
simulation, noise reductions, machine diagnostics, and application of new
material for machines are only a few of our topics.

The position offers interaction with academia, to sharpen and develop your
skills, and alternative career opportunities local and globally within the
ABB Group, where promotion to a specialist or project manager is just as
attractive as becoming a line manager.

Your profile: You are a Ph.D in electrical machines.Also PhDs in related
fields (Magnetics, Engineering Physics, or Thermal & Cooling) with
experience directly related to electrical machines and students completing
their PhD in these fields are encouraged to apply.Interest in modeling
and simulation, variable speed drives, or mechanics is a merit.You are
action oriented, analytical, and innovative.The close collaboration with
the R&D departments of ABB Business Areas required you to be fluent in
English, a team player, and an effective communicator.
