PhD student in Computer Science

Arbetsbeskrivning

Mälardalen University in Västerås, is an expansive university with a strong focus on engineering, and the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering is a research intensive enviroment with strong focus on Embedded systems, Real-time systems and Software Engineering.
IDT is offering a PhD student position in the area of complex embedded real-time systems. The PhD student position is starting in fall 2009.

In this project we will investigate how to couple existing standards for modeling of hardware architectures and the deployment of software entities onto such architectures within the PROGRESS research centre.
We will adopt the concepts of Platform Independent Models and Platform Dependent Models (PIM/PDM) from the UML-community and investigate how these concepts can be mapped onto the PROGRESS component models. Specifically we will investigate existing standards such as SysML, AADL and Autosar with the purposes both to reuse exiting work, if applicable, and to make the PROGRESS component-model compliant to relevant industry-standards. An important aspect of the above problem is to be able to model parts of the system at different abstraction levels.
This project will be conducted in cooperation with the project "Execution Modeling in Distributed Real-Time Systems where this project will focus on the more general and academic aspects of the problem
