Mälardalen University in Västerås, is an expansive university with a strong focus on engineering, and the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering is a research intensive enviroment with strong focus on Embedded systems, Real-time systems and Software Engineering.
IDT is offering a PhD student position in the area of complex embedded real-time systems. The PhD student position is starting in fall 2009.

Within the EU-project "CHESS" a PhD-student position in the area of Model Driven Development (MDD) is announced. In CHESS we study domain specific languages for the telecom, railway and aerospace domains. This position will focus on the telecom domain. The student will work with model transformation/translation from abstract to concrete models and from models to code. The position includes both theoretical work (such as investigating and defining semantics-preserving translations) and practical implementations of transformations. The student will work in a team with researchers and engineers from Mälardalen University, Ericsson and Enea.

Eligibility
Only someone who can be or already has been enrolled for PhD studies at a university can be employed at a PhD position. The requirement for being qualified for PhD studies is to have at least four years of university studies, corresponding to a Master's degree.

Admittance to the post-graduate education will be handled in conjunction with the employment procedure. In general anyone who has graduated with a Master's degree with a major in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is eligible as graduate student in Computer Science and Engineering. Students with corresponding qualifications, for instance from similar programs at other universities, may also be admitted.

Special requirements
Desirable competences include: MDD, model transformations and programming in Java.
Applicants should have good knowledge in real-time systems, operating systems and mathematics. Knowledge in hierarchical scheduling techniques is desirable, as is relevant implementation experience.
