Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Food Science in Ultuna 1 PhD student in the research education subject: Food Science ELISA methods for biomarker determination The PhD project aims to develop and validate ELISA methods for the determination of alkylresorcinols and their metabolites as biomarkers of intake of whole grain and bran-rich products of wheat and rye.In epidemiology, biomarkers are regarded as objective measures of dietary exposure that are not subjected to respondent's memory/motivation or the quality of dietary questionnaires and food composition data.In our laboratory, alkylresorcinols are established as valid biomarkers of intake of whole grain and bran-rich products of wheat and rye.Doctoral diss.Dept.of Food Science, SLU.Acta Universitatis agriculturae Sueciae.Agraria vol.Doctoral diss.Dept.of Food Science, SLU.Acta Universitatis agriculturae Sueciae vol.The project is financed by FORMAS and will be performed in partnership with the Veterinary Research Institute, Brno, Czech Republic, where the student is expected to spend a considerable time of the PhD training.The student will be given a 1 year scholarship (utbildningsbidrag) plus 3 year employment as PhD student.Qualifications Applicants must have completed a university degree, i.e.Master's or equivalent, in food science, biochemistry, chemistry or equivalent.Previous experience in immunology/immunological methods is a valued advantage.Good social skills and ability to work independently and in collaboration with others and good skills in the English language are highly valued.Evaluations will be based on the results of the university courses, quality of master's thesis, personal references, interviews and the letter of intent.Forms for funding or employment Scholarship 1 year + Employment as PhD student 3 years SLU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
