Political Attaché (JHA and Social Policy) at the British Embassy in Stockholm.

The successful applicant will work in the embassy's political section.This is a varied and interesting job focussing on policy analysis, political reporting and promoting the UK's policy dialogue with Sweden.Specifically, the job will cover:

Justice and Home Affairs issues; national developments and Sweden as an EU partner.Social policy, including social security and health.Foreign Policy issues, including reporting of policy and strategic decisions in Sweden.Media monitoring on related issues, including some translation work.Organising visits.

The work entails information gathering, contact making, reporting and analysis of the Swedish domestic situation and Sweden as an EU partner, as well as lobbying of the Swedish government in the context of EU cooperation.

Interaction

Relevant government departments (Sweden/UK), parliament, academic institutions, NGOs.

Essential Skills

.University degree
.Minimum three years tried and tested work experience, preferably with an international dimension and within a intercultural environment
.Excellent communication skills
.A good understanding of political work
.Understanding of the Swedish, UK and EU political, administrative and legislative systems
.Ability to analyse and report issues quickly and accurately
.An ability to speak and read Swedish

Initially a one-year contract will be offered, including and subject to a 3-month probationary period.
