Job description: Applications are invited for a post-doc position in the field of crashworthiness of future vehicles, with emphasis on computational material mechanics, and, in particular, lightweight materials and structures. The assignment is for 2 years, with the outlook for a successful candidate to earn a permanent academic position after this initial period. The focus of the work is research oriented but also contribution to the teaching activities of the department is expected. The candidate should contribute to the acquisition of new research projects. The post-doc is expected to provide the leadership and direction to the development of the vehicle crashworthiness field at Chalmers. Current research issues are related to composites process modeling, and, linked to that, composite mechanics with emphasis on material, fracture and structure modeling. The position is to be placed at the Department of Applied Mechanics within the Division of Material and Computational Mechanics with strong links to the Division of Vehicle Safety. Part of the research to be carried out will be positioned at SAFER, which is the centre of excellence in vehicle and traffic safety at Chalmers. Projects at SAFER are often of multidisciplinary in nature and are carried out in cooperation with industrial partners of SAFER and external (international) partners. Required qualifications: The successful candidate must have earned a doctor?s degree in solid or structural mechanics or computational mathematics with an emphasis on the development of versatile computational methods. He or she must have a strong track record in research within the field of material and computational mechanics from the Ph.D., demonstrated by scientific publications, etc. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills are required. Hence, excellent English skills are required, in oral as well as writing communication. The candidate should be willing to travel frequently internationally.
