Post Doc/Doctor position in electronics packaging

Arbetsbeskrivning

A research position of Post Doc is available in the area of electronics packaging. The position is in the Electronics Materials and Packaging group of the BioNano Systems Laboratory, which belongs to the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology.

The research within the group focuses on the development of materials and processes for electronics, MEMS and biomedical applications. The major focus of the research is towards development of nano-materials based technology including nano-interconnect using carbon nanotubes and graphene, nano-thermal interface materials based on metal-polymer composites, nanotechnology based conductive adhesives, heat spreading material based on 2D materials, microchannel coolers and 3D packaging using carbon nanotubes. The final goal is to develop platforms for 3D heterogeneous integration in future nano-electronics system.

The group is expanding its research activity and within the ongoing frame project funded by Swedish Board for Strategic Research (SSF) “Carbon based 3D GaN high speed electronics system”, we open the position as post doc in electronics packaging.

The Post Doc/doctor position is expected to work on ongoing projects in thermo-electric and highly conductive interconnect materials, as well as develop their own research interests within the group. This researcher is also expected to be involved in assisting the supervision of master's and/or PhD students. Another important aspect of this role is being involved in the co-ordination of research projects with our collaborators within academia and industry, as well as society at large.

Qualifications:
Applicant should have a relevant Ph.D. degree preferably in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or a similar field. Excellent verbal and written English skills, with the ability to present information effectively and communicate well as part of a team are required for this position. Significant experience of using finite element (FE) packages such as ANSYS (or similar) in the field of microelectronics and experience of performing thermo-mechanical simulations of prototype electronic devices and components (joining materials, interconnects) are required for this position. Knowledge of thermo-electric materials and experience in packaging these materials in modules, as well as nanofabrication experience, is highly beneficial to this position. Finally, it is essential that the applicant has significant experience working on multiple international research projects and an excellent record of collaboration with other laboratories.

To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

About the Post Doc position
The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector. The position as a Post-doctoral/doctor fellow is a full-time temporary employment, limited to a maximum of two years (1+1). A monthly salary is paid.

Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.

Application procedure
The application should be marked with Ref 20140236 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically via Chalmers webpage.

Application deadline: July 25, 2014
