Postdoc in computational physics with emphasis on graphene and adsorption

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and Ph D students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with the latest equipment.

Information about the division
Research at the Quantum Physics Device laboratory at MC2 extends over a variety of different topics: experimental mesoscopic physics, quantum devices and oxide electronics, bolometer physics, and a smaller theory group focusing on atomic-scale computations of materials. The position is in the theory group, with collaborations also with other theoreticians in the Bionanosystems laboratory and the Applied Quantum Physics laboratory, MC2.

Major responsibilities
You will participate in existing projects in the group and with our collaborators, rather than defining and carrying out your own isolated projects. We expect you to contribute with your experience with molecular dynamics to projects, for example where it is important to connect atomic-scale calculations to statistical and thermodynamic analysis. Graphene research has a strong base at Chalmers, and the focus will be on graphene and graphene-like materials.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of one year.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in Physics or Chemistry, with extensive experience in molecular dynamics and some experience in the use of density functional theory; the degree should generally not be older than three years. Understanding and experience in use of theory on the border between physics and chemistry.

Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.

Application procedure
The application should be marked with Ref 20140249 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically via Chalmers webpage.

Application deadline: August 5, 2014
