Arbetsbeskrivning

Department of Biosystems and Technology
Research at the Department of Biosystems and Technology explores the interactions among soils, plants, animals, environment, climate, infrastructure and humans in systems for sustainable production of food and renewable raw materials. Teaching activities deal with questions about sustainable and efficient use of limited resources, within the broader context of circular economy while facing the constraints of climate change. The Department is located at the SLU campus in Alnarp, outside of Malmö, Sweden

For this specific project involving black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae treatment of organic materials, the focus is to use a combination of microbial (genomics) and chemical (metabolomics, proteomics) analyses to study the characteristics of frass derived from different treatments and source materials. The project is primarily funded by Formas and Carl-Tryggers Foundation. The position is associated with research groups of Jean Yong and Cecilia Lalander at SLU in Alnarp and Uppsala, and Christian Zurbrügg at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG) in Switzerland.
