Postdoctoral position

Postdoctoral position

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Mijakovic laboratory at Chalmers SysBio is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work on engineering of metal-organic frameworks for antibiofouling applications. We aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of marine transport caused by biofouling. To help achieve this ambitious goal, the candidate will be working in a stimulating interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experts in nanoscience, microbiology and biochemistry.

Information about the division and the department
The postdoctoral project is funded by the Wallenberg Initative: Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE). The host laboratory is a vibrant and productive research group with 30+ scientists (mostly postdocs and PhD students) working on various challenges within bio-sustainability and human health. In this particular project, we aim to integrate caltrop-shaped metal-organic frameworks in coatings with bectericidal activity, to prevent biofilms from attaching to relevant surfaces.

The Mijakovic lab is a part of the Division of Systems and Synthetic Biology, SysBio, at the Department of Life Sciences.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to plan and carry out your own research in a research group, and write scientific publications independently. The position may also include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position you...
- must hold a doctoral degree in nanomaterials/materials science, awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline
- should have undergraduate education in nanomaterials/materials science
- should have postdoc experience in working with metal-organic frameworks

The position also requires fluency in written and spoken English.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
