The Department of Technology Management and Economics (TME) conducts research and teaching in close interaction with external organisations, and focuses on resource utilisation, improvement and development of processes as well as inter-organisational relationships. Our mission is to develop people, perspectives and practices that make a difference in society through co-creating knowledge in the field of Technology Management. Our research, education and utilisation contribute to economic, social and ecological sustainability.
The Department rests on a solid theoretical foundation of well-established research disciplines and professional areas with particular strengths in the following subject areas: entrepreneurship, innovation management, logistics and transportation, operations management, quality management, supply chain management, industrial marketing, purchasing, service management, R&D management, science and technology studies, history of technology, leadership and strategy. In combination, these areas constitute the Department’s strategic position within the wider area of Technology management.
You would be joining one of five divisions that pursue problem-oriented and inter-disciplinary research in technology management. We put strong emphasis on industry relevance combined with high visibility in leading academic journals. We offer a research environment that benefits from a successful local industrial environment of private and public sector organisations that have leading positions globally. The key aims of our research activity are to address societal challenges and contribute to industrial leadership. Based on our subject areas, we have identified four key challenges in society in which the Department aspires to develop a distinct position:
• Practices that enable sustainable development
• Value creation through digitalisation
• Managing interfaces across boundaries
• The challenge of renewal – improvement and transformation.
