The Department of Dental Medicine at Campus Flemingsberg focuses on the education of dentists and dental hygienists.

In addition, we perform research, dental specialization training and provide patient care by specialist dentists. Karolinska Institutet and the rest of Scandinavia have been world leaders in dentistry for decades.

A postdoc position is available in the research group of Professor Ernberg at the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Oral Diagnostics and Rehabilitation. The research group focuses on mechanisms behind orofacial muscle pain and conduct translational research. This is a one-year position with the possibility of an extension.

Your mission
The work will include sampling of tissue from human jaw muscles, intramuscular injection of substances into jaw muscles and laboratory work, particularly immunohistochemical analyses of muscle biopsies. The position also includes experimental planning, data processing, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing.

Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Entry requirements 
The position is open for a highly motivated, enthusiastic candidate. We are looking for a dentist with a PhD and with adequate experience in clinical and certain knowledge in laboratory research.

The position requires:

- A degree in dentistry
- A PhD or equivalent in orofacial pain and jaw function
- Skills to work independently with clinical tissue sampling and intramuscular injections into jaw muscles
- Documented research experience in orofacial pain and jaw function including proficiency to work independently with clinical research

Advantageous:

- Experience from dental academic research setting working with clinical and human experimental data
- Ability to work independently with MS Office and statistical programs

To perform in this position, you will need to have very good oral and written communication skills in English as well as excellent teamwork skills as you will often closely work together with other members of the research group.
