The Department of Mechatronics & Software at Volvo Technology provides specialist competence as well as products in the area of embedded systems. Its mission is to assist the Volvo Group with new technologies in all development stages, from applied research to industrialization. The Vehicle Electronics group is part of the Department of Mechatronics & Software and focuses on the development and implementation of electrical and electronic hardware systems and software development for embedded real-time systems. The amount of electrical and electronic systems in all types of vehicles is increasing rapidly and therefore we are seeking talented engineers who want to take on exciting challenges in an organization committed to find innovative solutions with state-of-the-art technologies. Job Description More and more electrical loads, such as different kinds of electrical machines in various applications, are becoming part of the electrical system. It is therefore necessary to have excellent competence in power electronics so that we can develop devices that can control these loads in an efficient manner taking into account the specific characteristics of the loads. You will work with the development of concepts, evaluation of technologies, and design of in-vehicle electrical and electronic systems, with focus on its power-electronic parts. Typical tasks include design of control hardware for electrical machines, integration of electrical and electronic components, and implementation of prototypes. Required Qualifications * M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or similar * At least 4 years of experience in electrical components, power electronics, or hardware design * Good knowledge of electrical machines or its controlling devices is considered as an asset * Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written * Open-minded and positive attitude when it comes to solve both practical and technical problems * Ability to cooperate with work teams as well as ability to work on your own * The job is dependent of a good network within and outside the company; therefore your ability to communicate effectively and to work with persons in different areas in a global multi-cultural environment is essential At Volvo Technology we are actively working to establish groups that take maximum advantage of the strength inherent to differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender and nationality, among others.
