We are recruiting a press and communications officer who will take our media work to the next level in the coming year. You will join the corporate communications team and bring the new global media strategy to life together with the lead press officer. You will develop content for our different digital platforms to ensure that SEI research is accessible and informs current affairs and discussions in the public sphere.

We are now recruiting a press and communications officer who can help take our media work to the next level in the coming year. This is an exciting time to join the team and bring the new global media strategy to life together with the lead press officer. You will be an important part of the corporate communications team and develop content for our different digital platforms to ensure that SEI research is accessible and informs current affairs and discussions in the public sphere. We aim to influence and inform the agenda to reduce climate risk and strengthen resilient and healthy societies. You are strategic and an excellent writer who understands the importance of being proactive and actively finds relevant stories internally to convey to target audiences.
You will support researchers and cooperate with communication colleagues at our centres in Africa, Asia, HQ, Latin America, Tallinn, the UK and US. We always encourage new ideas on how to develop our work.
Key duties and responsibilities
Identify communication opportunities, collaborate with researchers and communication officers to develop media outreach plans.
Deliver press materials and messages and organize media events related to SEI projects and programs.
Produce social media content and news stories for our website and keep SEI press room up to date.
Develop our Swedish Twitter account @SEIforskning.
Develop reports and analyses of SEI media presence based on our monitoring tool, including social media.
Contact and build network with journalists, primarily in Sweden and Europe, and update media lists.
Support editorial and global communication meetings in collaboration with lead press officer.

Who you are
We are looking for a person who is curious and interested in sustainable development and current affairs. You are used to taking the initiative to identify news hooks and opportunities, creating core messages and making research accessible for a wider public. To succeed in this role, you should be a strong team player and organized.
Since this is a temporary position for 12 months, only applicants currently residing in Sweden will be considered.
Formal qualifications and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, such as professional journalism or writing and communications for government offices, research organizations or non-profits.
Excellent writing skills and fluent in Swedish and English.
Experience in social media and traditional media strategies and engagement.
Basic web skills and ability to quickly learn web content management systems.

Team player and being able to cooperate with different kind of people.
Curious and used to work proactively to find communication opportunities.
Strategic focus and being able to prioritize as well as take initiatives.
Analytic, formulate messages and stories targeting key audiences and how our work links to current affairs/agendas we want to influence.
